Classic American Flags

American flags in various forms reflect the history of America. Most of the American antique flags were made up of cotton, wool or silk. Each flag has its own story. Talking about antique flags the first thing that comes to mind is the renowned 13 star Betsy Ross flag, the flag which is the sign of the American independence fight.
Few early flags belonging to the first half of the 19th century had different forms blue field stars which were embroidered in scattered snowflake pattern. Among these early flags, the circa 1825 were made from high quality materials like silk or metal threads of gold and silver.
The civil war flags are the most hyped flags of all time; ideally these flags feature 35 stars which reminds us of June 20, 1863 when west Virginia became the 35th state of the nation. While the Centennial flags reminds us about the world's fair that was held in Philadelphia in 1876.

A former member of the Royal Air Force, Robert Anderson became famous in later life as the 'Flag Man of Crail'. This is because residents of his hometown of Crail, Scotland would flock to see which garden flag would be adorning the pole in his yard on every special occasion. He had a huge collection of special Mother's Day creations, to flags commemorating everything form the inauguration of Barack Obama to the visit of garbage men every Friday. Mr. Anderson could not keep up with the number of inquiries at his home, so he began to attach details of each day's flag on the gate post. This created a talking point for locals and visitors alike, but in recent days the flag has been flying at half staff in his garden as Mr. Anderson has passed away at the age of 88.
His family has received overwhelming condolences from many people t hat they do not even know but who felt that he had touched their lives in some way with his daily flag rituals.
