About the European flag

The European Union flag is blue with 12 yellow stars arranged in a circle. It symbolizes unity and European identity. The gold stars circle represents solidarity and harmony among the people of Europe.
According to the official website of the EU, the European flag history began in 1955. At that time, the European Union there was known only as the European Community of Coal and Steel and was composed of six member states.
But several years ago, the Council of Europe wanted to pick a symbol to represent it. After
a lot of discussions, this emblem was adopted – a circle of twelve golden stars on a blue background. In different traditions, number twelve symbolizes perfection. Of course, it represents the number of months in a year and the hours on the clock dial. The circle is
also a symbol of unity. In 1985, the flag was adopted by all heads of state in EU countries governments as the official emblem of the European Union. Since 1986, all the European institutions have been using it.
